Toddler Teething: Fun For The Whole Family

The past couple weeks Ryan has basically walked around with a fist in his mouth. I originally kept scolding him for chewing on his hand, but then looked in his mouth and saw he was getting his second molars. Here's what Babycenter has to say about them:

"Your child's last baby teeth, four "second molars," usually appear between 20 and 33 months. (Some kids are still cutting their other teeth during the third year.) Molars tend to be especially painful since they are large. Sometimes they're accompanied by mild fever. They may even cause your good sleeper to wake up crying in the night. Fortunately the pain doesn't last more than a day or two per tooth. Let your child gnaw on toys, his hands, or a frozen or very warm (not hot) wet washcloth if he's inclined until the discomfort passes."

For the past few nights Ryan has woken up early (like 5am) crying. He eventually falls back to sleep and then sleeps in late.

Last night was a whole different ballgame. He started screaming at 10:30 pm and never stopped. We would go into his room and he'd groggily ask "sun came up?", pass back out, and wake again screaming in minutes. Finally at 1am we pulled him into our room. Two doses of Tylenol and 8 hours later he was still snoozing this morning. I had to finally wake him up so we could get Brooke to camp ... He might have slept all day!

Brooke is the only one who got any sleep last night. In a few hours I bet she's gonna be wondering why her whole family is so irrational and cranky ;)
