Memorial Day She Said

Spent the day in Michigan, swimming and hanging out in the sun. Brooke and Ryan passed out hard on the way home. Wish this pic had audio so you could hear the snoring ...

Dad: we are going to a place called Michigan
Brooke: Michigan?
Dad: yeah
Brooke: I want to see it!

Points to a model lighthouse-"Look, I live in that!"

Backyard Picnic

Brooke called it a picnic because we were sitting on a blanket, who am I to argue?

Man, Am I Tired

There is good news. I worry about posting it because I might jinx myself, but, I still want to note all of our milestones ... So ... Here goes ...

Ryan is sleeping all night! He seems to have worked out some kinks while we were on vacation. Since we have been home he has slept about 11-12 hours a night. Finally ;)

Why am I tired then? Two reasons. First, Ryan has begun helicoptering in his bed at night. He spins around and around and gets himself into the craziest positions. Last night around 1 I woke up to a horrible scream - his leg got caught in the crib slats! (I remember Brooke doing the same thing when she was in this stage.)

I went to move him out of his predicament, and he figured it was party time. For the next hour he talked and laughed in his crib. Cute, but also annoying. For the hour he was partying I was unable to sleep :(

That hour he was up was not a huge deal - he's had worse nights than that. The topping on the cake was his sister. She got up at 5:30 and couldn't go back to sleep. That wasn't part of the plan!

To throw salt on the wound ... The little guy is STILL sleeping now, at 6:45. It's the latest he has ever slept in! At least Brooke and I are getting some quality one-on-one time ;)

She Said - Vacation Edition

The beach is waiting, we gotta hurry!

**********

I'm too tired to dance.

**********

He's drooling. That's gross!

**********

It's too loud. I'm trying to sleep.

**********

I get bigger and then I'll be a Grandma.

**********

Brooke (to Mommy): You go under water
Mommy (to Brooke): YOU go under water.
Brooke: I don't want to. I'm busy.

Post backdated. I never got around to it, but re-read it all and it was too priceless to ignore.

10 Minutes Into The Trip Home ...

Oh What A Flight

We landed. It was not easy. I'm pretty sure if there was an option to disboard a passenger, Ryan would have been kicked off by popular demand. On our way home!

Naked In The Airport

The trip was basically flawless. Great weather, great beaches, great fun. No major fiascos ...

Until the airport blowout.

And, of course, we didnt have a change of clothes for Ryan.

When having lunch in the airport we could smell something, and it wasn't good. We looked at each other. I think we both knew our luck had run out, and it had.

I went into the bathroom to change him. There was no changing table, so I places him on the counter. I opened up his pjs (the easiest outfit to travel in!) and the poop was all over. The outfit was not recoverable. I did my best to clean up, then took off my sweater and wrapped him in it. We walked back to where Daddy and Brooke were having lunch as people commented on the cute naked baby. He didnt seem to mind.

Daddy noticed the look on my face and knew what was up;). I grabbed my wallet and heat back out, hoping one of the airport stores had some sort of baby outfit. We got lucky. Although we are heading home to weather in the 50's - Ryan will be arriving in shorts and a tshirt.

He is pretty proud of himself in his new outfit!

Chillin

Ryans up from his nap ... And Brooke is still swimming! He's just relaxing by the pool waiting for her to finally get tired of the water. It might be a while ...

Swimming : Try #2

When we got here, Brooke was all about the beach. She never even saw the pool - until we sat near it for lunch yesterday. At that point, the pool was all she could think about.

After she and Ryan napped and we finally got ourselves together, it was after 4 by the time we got to the pool. It was Ryan's first time swimming and both kids were having a BLAST.

Suddenly, the pool clears. A boy had an "accident" (the kind that required the pool staff to show up with NETS). We made the kids get out of the pool ... and Brooke cried. She was so disappointed.

She has been talking about the pool ever since. We woke up this morning, got ready, and head to the pool. Ryan is napping while Brooke has some fun in the water ;)

Sunday She Said

We were watching Dora and Dora was talking about what she wants to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be a Soccer player, an Astronaut, or a Musician. Then she asked "what do YOU want to be when you grow up?"

Brooke: "I want to be a doctor, a kitty cat, and a big bad wolf. No, a nice wolf."

**********

"Freddy. He hugs me really gentle"
(Freddy is a kid in her class)

**********

Mom: Do you think it's a good idea to put dirty things in your mouth?
Brooke: I not know any better.

Bedtime Horror Flick

You'd think they are watching Nightmare on Elm Street, but I swear it's just Dora. It is the Mothers Day episode though ... Maybe they just realized they forgot to get me a gift???

Big Boy Stroller, Big Boy Cup

Now that he's all grown up, Ryan's riding in the big stroller while drinking out of his sippy cup!

"You Made My Day" (Ryan is 6 Months!)

Ryan is 6 months old today and he got to celebrate by going to the doctor and getting four shots in addition to an oral vaccine.  He didnt flinch when his first leg got two shots, but couldnt take the next two in the other leg.  I picked him up right after to soothe him and the nurse said to him "You did a good job".  He stopped crying and smiled at her.  That's all it took :)  She told him that he made her day, and told me that babies NEVER smile at her.  (Gee, I wonder why?)

Height: 26 3/4 inches
Weight: 19.5 inches

Yes, this picture was taken after the shots. What a happy guy!

"I'm the Mommy"

Yesterday Brooke pretended she was the Mommy and a teddy bear was the Baby. It was the first time I have ever seen her in a mommy-role-play. What did she do as mommy?

She put the baby in time out.

She put it to bed.

She took it to the doctor because it was hurt (and then again because it was sick).

This morning, the same bear is still a baby. She put him in the high chair and exclaimed "You are so big!". She fed him breakfast. She then brought him up to Ryans room and threw him in the crib. She came back down and told me I had to put on the monitor so she could watch her baby. We are now watching the monitor waiting for her baby to wake up from his nap, although she got a bit distracted by the television and I think perhaps might have forgotten about her baby for the moment...

Sunday She Said

Brooke woke up early - at 6am instead of the usual 6:15/6:30. I had a rough night and was hoping she'd sleep (or at least be quiet) for a few more minutes.
Mom: Brooke, its still really early. Can you maybe lay down for a few more minutes?
Brooke: No thank you.

Well, at least she is polite!
