Michigan w Lily

After Brooke's meet, we picked up Lily to spend a couple nights in Michigan to take advantage of some special time with her before she (and her family) move to Paris.

Brooke HAD to take Lily to Beachside Scoops

We then strolled a bit after ice cream. Checked out a family of ducks and played a bit on the playground at New Buffalo Beach while watching the sun set.

Diving Meet: IDA Championships

The IDA Diving championships are at Stevenson High School and Brooke's events are on on each day. She decided she didnt want to go both days, so she went with Dad to competition only today. Brooke placed 3rd in the 1M competition.

Nintendo Switch Road Trip at Navy Pier

We decided to check out the nationwide Nintendo Switch Road Trip at Navy Pier. We had to wait for quite a long time to get into a travel truck set up with all of the newest Nintendo Switch Games. While waiting, each kid wanted to quit / give up / go home. When we got in there they were pretty impressed and loved checking out all of the games. At the end they got to choose prizes, which sealed the deal ... despite the earlier whining it was worth the wait.

Luke was very excited to meet Mario & Luigi!

Brewers Season Ends

Lukes team was eliminated today ... the end of his first season of baseball! He has a great first season and spent most of the time working on listening, focusing & paying attention vs core baseball skills :) It was great being a Brewer and he was/is proud to wear the uniform.

Indoor Glow Golf

It was HOT today and I needed to find an indoor activity. We decided to go to Putting Edge in Norridge for some indoor glow in the dark golf.

This place was WEIRD. First, it was just an old overtaken store in a strip mall. Second, it was pitch black (which makes sense) but you just know it was the dirtiest place in the whole world. Third, the last few holes were upstairs and it was about 20 degrees hotter in the upper level. We were sweating! Finally, each of the holes was really quite simplistic. The only thing that was unique was the fact that it was glow in the dark ... and even the drawings and atmosphere was more creepy than cool.

Overall we had quite a few laughs, so it was still a good activity. However, I don't think we will repeat this activity. Ever.

White Castle

First trip to White Castle. Kids approve of the fries. Ryan & Luke like the chicken rings. Nobody got sick (yet).

1.11 Mile Run

Another run today. The race is not to far away and Ryan is working hard to get his mileage up for his first 5K. It is not without struggle though ;)

Birthday!

As I get older, my summer birthday tends to morph into a kids activity and/or sport day. No exception this year! However, Ryan and I did get a run in this morning and he has been doing great training for the 5k! Soon we will try 1.5 miles ...

As seems to be my new birthday tradition, it was a baseball day! Luke has really loved playing this summer, and we enjoy the opportunity to hang at the park on a nice day and just watch. Overall we all had a lovely day.

Swimming at Midtown

We dont go to the pool at Midwtown very often generally because we do all of our swimming in Michigan. But, today we were home (because of basebal and it was HOT. So, we took a family trip to the gym. It was nice hanging out all together and we pretended like were were on vacation.

The kids read and did activities in the lounge chairs, with Brooke hiding under a towel to protect herself from a bee invasion.

Everyone did some swimming - though the pool (like always) felt shockingly cold even despite the hot temperatures.

Preschool Memories

Luke completed a booklet about his preschool memories. I use the word "completed" loosely, because much of this is incomplete. Who knows if their time was short, he was distracted, or he really didnt have a whole lot to say. Its probably a combination of all three ;)
