AAU Lakeshore Volleyfest

In Grand Rapids MI for the 2021 Lakeshore Volleyfest AAU Super Regional. Brookes team won 2/3 matches (the most of all season) and is competing at the "gold" level tomorrow.

She finally got to do her jump serve in play! It didn't make it over the next, but it was awesome as she's is really excited about being able to do this more in the future.

Little League in April

UnQuarantine Day 215: Almost A Career Ender

Luke's 1st game of the season and it literally snowed. The kids were freezing. Luke begged to go home. It was miserable.

But his team won 13-1. And Luke got the game ball for being the only player with two hits in the game. And they ended an inning early because 1) the kids were about to die and 2) it was a wipeout anyway. And then Dad got him Jimmy John's for dinner AND let him get salt & vinegar chips.

He came home on a high, already (almost) forgetting the torture only moments prior.

Baseball has been saved.

Easter

4/4 Easter was a casual affair this year. No family, no big meal, no stress. Brooke actually had a birthday party at a park. So, she and the boys and I went to Lincoln Park and ate Jimmy Johns while they played with friends. Jeff went into the store which we decided to keep open this year. If we didnt start the morning with baskets and jelly beans, it would have been just a typical day!

Easter Prep

Today was one of the nicer days we've had this year and we did our best to enjoy it. Luke had a baseball game and all three kids spent some time at the park across the street flying kites.

We also spent lots of time inside too (as usual). The kids still got lots of hours of video games and Brooke and I watched a movie.

We also made our Easter eggs ... pretty last minute. I got lured into a video on Instagram of eggs being dyed with cool whip and decided we had to do it. I think the process was actually too quick for the kids ... they wanted more of a procedure. And while I think they're pretty, the color is pretty muted. They're like a pastel tie-dye. The kids were hoping they'd be more vibrant.

Overall, today was a little bit anti-climactic for an Easter Eve. Despite the lack of vibrancy, I think the eggs looked nice. However, they all look a little bit the same as well ... taking away from the ability to be creative/unique (and our ability to compete for best egg). It was fun to try something new but I dont think we will do this method in the future.
