Brooke School Journal

I dont know why she believed she needed to clean for year. However, I can tell you (because this post is backdated) that it never happened. I'm pretty sure she never cleaned once, let alone for a year.

Sunday She Said / He Said

Ryan found a bone in his fish ... He brought it to Dad.
Ryan: Maybe we can use it for a project
Mom: yeah
Ryan: or set it on fire!

Kicking Adelle

A couple days ago Luke noticed this album in Bowtruss.

I told him it was Adelle and asked what she sang. He told me "Hello from the other side". He looked at her face for a minute and then said "kick Adelle" and swung his leg at her face.

He now announces he's gonna "kick Adelle" or "kick hello how are you" every time we are here.

First swim lesson

Brooke and Ryan have been out of lessons since school started (Aug or Sept of last year!) and it was time to get them back into the pool before summer really kicked off. We debated back and forth whether or not to put Luke in lessons too. Ryan was in lessons at the same age, but they're just different kids! Finally, I decided to put all three in when I found lessons that synced up at the right time on the right day with the right levels.

Brooke and Ryan were psyched, and Luke was too! We tried to talk to him about what to expect, but obviously, its impossible to properly frame the mind of a 2-year old.

Excited for lessons to begin

Luke hopped in and was ready to go!
Luke hopped in and was ready to go!!

Luke was great in the water, for a whole minute, until I walked away :)

He then spent the next 29 minutes of the lesson crying with his head on the shoulder of his coach (whose name is Megan). He also occasionally pulled her hair and splashed water at her as he alternated between sadness and anger.

After the lesson he was actually pretty positive.  He talked about swimming (and told everyone "I cried") as if he had a good time. I'm going to be cautiously optimistic about Week 2 for him.

As for Brooke and Ryan? She declared her lesson to be easy (she may have used the phrase "piece of cake") while Ryan admitted he struggled a bit being back in lessons. Both were happy and are excited about being back in the pool.

Ribfest 6/12

After a smoking hot Saturday we had a nice Sunday in the 80's ... a perfect chance to hit up Ribfest! We left with Luke overdue for a nap and planned on him taking a nap in the stroller, but there were too many exciting things going on for him to sleep. He finally fell asleep after (what seemed like) forever and we took that chance to stay a bit longer than expected. A few beers for Mom & Dad, some yummy donuts, and playtime in the kids area.
Luke was with us too ... hanging in the stroller
Brooke & Ryan Ribfest Selfie

Because we stayed longer than expected we ended up neededing to get dinner on the way home. We stopped at KICK, where the kids were back in selfie mode as soon as they got bored waiting for dinner (which was about 5 minutes).

Sunday He Said / She Said

Mom: Luke, the menu has burger, mac & cheese and fish. What do you want?
Luke: fish
Mom: fish? Good choice!
Luke: goldfish

First Black Eye

Luke fell off the couch onto the coffee table in MI (on Sunday) and smacked the corner of his eye. Immediately there was a bump and a bruise. Now, a couple days later ... We have a full on shiner.
