Milwaukee Tourney: Its a Wrap

After some losses (that probably could have been wins) the parents were psyched for some wins on day 2

The girls were really looking for wins too, and there was some pretty intense game play. Unfortunately, they lost the first game ... which took them out of the "gold bracket" and put them into a consolation game.

The consolation game was one of the most exciting and intense games I've ever seen the girls play. It was a real nail-biter. They ended the tournament feeling pretty great after winning the last two sets to end the day with a big win.

Milwaukee Tourney: Day 1

This was our first travel tournament of the year, with an overnight in Milwaukee to play in the JVA MKE Jamboree.  Brooke got a little less playing time than she is used to, but made some great plays during her time on the court. It was hard for her accept the fact she was being played less, but she kept her spirits up and supported her team.

After the games were over, we returned to the hotel. The girls went swimming (they were allowed to take over the pool and nobody seemed to mind we left them in there without an adult!) and then followed up with snacks and pizza. They ended the night running around the hotel, making TikToks, and who knows what else. It was a great bonding experience, and they had a blast. Its a great group of kids and they all seem to genuinely like and respect each other.

A Donut Knocked My Tooth Out

Luke ate a donut and it finally ended the tooth battle. Thank goodness we got donuts from Dunkin. They're always a little stale and chewy … and they did the trick.

He showed me how it was almost out, turned around and yanked it the rest of the way out, then proudly demonstrated his bloody mouth.

It's about time. This kid is nearing the end of 2nd grade and is basically the only kid in class that hasn't lost his top teeth yet. He's very excited to go to school tomorrow and show off his new smile.

Boys Volleyball Tournament

Ryan's first big tournament - at McCormick place. Something like 650 teams registered!

He also not only made his first serve over the net in a game ... he hit it so hard it was out. His entire team was shocked. His next time up to serve he made three of them over, two of which scored points. It's a pretty big day for our (current) youngest volleyball player.
