Brooke's Turkey Day Feast

At school, Brooke had the opportunity to choose between a Native American and a Pilgrim ... I think its pretty easy to guess WHAT she is, but a little harder to tell WHO she is :)
The cupcake is a pretty good hint my girl is hiding underneath...

Aha! There she is!

2 & 4 Year Checkups

Although I felt a bit guilty, I took Ryan in for his 2 year checkup on his birthday. To add to the fun, I threw Brooke in there too, since the office is willing to double up kids on well-being visits. To top that off, I threw in a couple of flu shots too ;)

The kids were actually great. Poor Brooke cannot do the nasal version of the flu shot due to her asthma, and now that she is four they actually did the shot in her arm (versus her leg). She kept telling me that she would "try to be brave" and she really was, although the shot in her arm made her scream and cry like I've never heard. While I did feel bad for her, her brother got three shots in addition to the nasal version of the flu shot ... on his birthday ... so he won the worst-day-competition.

Height & Weights

Brooke's height and weight was pretty easy to remember, she is 40 3/4 inches tall and 40.5 lbs. According to one cite, she is 83rd percentile for weight and 66th percentile for height. Ryan is 31.5 pounds (or 85th percentile) and 35 inches tall (63rd percentile). I believe the doctor gave me different percentiles, but am not sure where the differences were. (From what I remember, I think she quoted me higher percentiles for both height and weight.)

At the end of the visit, both kids got to choose a prize from the toybox. They both chose the same toy (a little guitar shaped game) and all of the drama from moments earlier was all but forgotten.

We capped off the night with a celebratory birthday cupcake, and by that point the poking and prodding was a distant memory :)

Ryan is 2!

Height: 35 inches

Weight: 31 lbs 7 oz

Ryan had a big growth spurt since his 18 month appointment. He went from the 50th% to 75% in height! We knew our little guy wouldnt stay "little" forever ;)
