Tummy Time Fail

How do you do tummy-time with a baby who has reflux?  Every time the baby is put on his mat for some tummy time, he barfs all over.  Then, he smears his face all over it. It doesnt matter how long its been since he ate.

Poor little guy :(

Sunday She Said / He Said

Brooke: How do you become a queen?
Mom: It's part of being a member of a Royal Family. You are born to be a Queen. Or, you marry a Prince.
Brooke: How do you find a Prince? Can you find me one?

**********

Brooke: One time I showed Aiden (a kid from school) my voice
Mom: That's great. What did he say?
Brooke: He didn't really say anything. He was kind of playing a game.

**********

Brooke: Have I ever got chicken pox?
Me: No. And you might not ever get it. Not everyone gets it.
Ryan: Except chickens

Thumb Sucking :(

He doesn't use a paci. He sleeps great at night. But, he's recently been determined to suck his thumb. How do I thwart his attempts? I don't want another thumb sucker!

Working the Fields

Temps were moderate today, so it seemed to be a good day for strawberry picking. Little did we know the temps would soar as we drove inland to Franks Farm!  A couple minutes picking and we were all roasting.

Ryan immediately tarted picking all the red berries he could find ... And eating them. I think he maybe put 5 berries in the box (and that's a generous estimate)

Brooke looked for a minute, proclaimed it to be hot, and then spent the next two hours screaming and running from bugs.

The crops also weren't that great.  Last year we found huge, juicy strawberries everywhere. This year we had to scrounge around for ones that were big and red enough. Not sure if the berries are different this year, or if they've just been picked over already.

Either way, we picked 7 lbs. Enough to make a crisp (the kids will reject), a smoothie (the kids will reject) and a few leftover for eating!

Fathers Day Is Awesome

Sunday She Said / He Said

Brooke sees tattooed guy riding bike
Brooke: That guy has stamps all over his back! And he's naked!
Ryan: He has no shirt on!

**********

Starbucks employee says "Hi friend!" to Ryan. Ryan doesn't reply. I tell him the guy said "hi" (in case he hadnt heard).
Ry: He said "hi friend," but he's not my friend!

**********

Brooke: Nature gives me the creeps sometimes

Brooke's Last Day of Preschool

It's officially Brooke's last day of preschool!

She picked out a cute outfit and was ready to go!

Here she is in the cubby she used all year. She still fits in it ;)

And here's the best preschool teaching staff in the world: Miss Sandra, Miss Nicholson and Miss Christine (left to right)

I'm beyond amazed at how much Brooke has learned these past two years. We will all miss these wonderful teachers. They've set the bar quite high and I'm sure will be our basis for comparison for years to come.

Just a couple weeks of summer and then she's off to kindergarten!

Smilin'

The little guy has been smiling the last week or so. Some days we get none, bit others are full of them.  Everyone in the house is excited to see this new development and the kids are often racing over to try to catch a glimpse.  Lots of fun!

Next Stop: Pre-K

Ryan finished up his last day of school at Chalk Preschool.  He honestly could care less, I felt a bit nostalgic.  We've been going to chalk for 4 years now with Brooke and Ryan combined.  It was a bit sad to say goodbye.

Ryan brought in some donuts to celebrate, and was feeling quite grown up and ready to move onto the next phase of his educational career ;)

A (First) Day at the Beach

Luke can't wear sunscreen for months still ... A bit of a complication for a family that spends a lot of time at the pool and the beach ;)

So far we've been ok at the pool sitting in the shade.  That's not always going to work because there isn't always shade ... And the carseat/stroller gets pretty hot. But, for now, Luke has been hanging at the pool.  The beach is a different story.

However, I bought a little sun tent.  Now, as long as its not too hot, Luke gets to go to the beach too!

And, the cool thing is, the tent can actually fit the whole family ;)

She Said / He Said

Ryan: Hey Brooke, I love China!

**********

Dad: How'd you sleep last night? Any dreams?
Brooke: No. I'm a person without dreams.
