Hilton Head Beach Day (with the Seminarotis)

Jeff arrived today to hang out for our last day and join us on our ride back home to Chicago. In honor of his arrival I requested a room upgrade. Prior to this amazing view, we were on the first floor looking at the parking lot.

We spent the day hanging out with our friends the Seminarotis. The kids had a blast. Not only do they all get along so well, but it was a perfect day for just hanging at the beach.

We wrapped up our day with dinner at Reilley's Grill & Bar in Hilton Head. It had a lovely outdoor seating area, which was perfect for our last night on Hilton Head.
A fierce game of Connect Four

Luke did not make it back to the hotel awake. What a long day!

Hilton Head Day 2 Afternoon

The downtown / square area is called Coligny Circle. We decided to check that out (and we also met the Seminarotis for a bit and checked out a few tourist shops). Found some (what I think are) Spanish Moss Trees. The kids climbed them ... and even willingly took a few photos.

We also checked out the beach here, had some dinner, and found some cool swings on the boardwalk (where we ate all the candy we bought at the candy shop with the Seminarotis!)

Hilton Head Day 2: Morning Pool Time

Before we head out for the day to explore, we decided that we had to get a little pool time in. There was some swimming, but probably more lounging than swimming. We all are appreciating this down-time in a perfect place with perfect weather.

Day One Hilton Head!

After some hard work competing and some hard work spectating (sometimes I think its harder for the boys to watch all day than it is for Brooke to compete!), we are onto the relaxation portion of our trip! We checked into the Omni Hilton Head Oceanfront Resort and it is beautiful! One small drawback is the parking-lot view from our room ... but otherwise we cannot find a single thing wrong with this place!

We started off at the pool right away. It was great to just lounge and relax and spend some time winding down.

The hotel is right on the beach, separated by a dune and a boardwalk. After some time at the pool we went to check out the beach.

After playing all day I went out to dinner with three tired & sun-kissed kiddos

The grounds of the hotel have several fire pits and also a giant chess set. Despite the long day, sunburns and exhaustion... they insisted they must play some chess before returning to the room.

Goodbye Greensboro!

Today is our last day in Greensboro, NC! We head to Hilton Head, SC this afternoon.
First, an awesome trip with our friends to the Greensboro Science Center.

It was a SCORCHER today. The kids loved the indoor aspect of the Science Center. They explored the Jellies and the Sting Rays and had a blast in the wind tunnel. When we got outside to the Zoo part, they had most interest in an outdoor cat. Soon everyone was hot and sweaty and ready to leave. Good timing, because we were ready to hit the road to our next destination.

Competition Wraps Up

It was a little bit hard waking them up this morning

Brooke placed 3rd in double-mini

Brooke placed 2nd in Trampoline. I didn't get her scores :(

Ryan (along with a lot of the other kids, especially siblings) has become
obsessed with cup stacking

Greensboro Grasshoppers

Chick-fil-A was the sponsor tonight. We got free sunglasses and some
sweet cow fans.

We joined a few other families at a Greensboro Grasshopers game tonight. The local minor league team, and affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, play at First National Bank Field. This was an amazing and beautiful stadium and a PERFECT weather night. We had a total blast.

Luke literally slept for almost the whole game

Luckily he woke up in time, right before the concessions closed, to get some
Dippin Dots.

Competition Day 2: Trampoline & Single Mini

The Single Mini competition was a bit odd. At the end of the flight Brooke was told she placed 1st - in a tie with Sienna. Then they combined the two flights for the final scores and Brooke was placed 4th, and not ranked with Sienna. Must have originally gotten the scores wrong. Regardless, she was so thrilled initially to place first in this event, it made the 4th place final finish a little sad for her.

IK Girls: All Winners :)

Brooke placed 2nd in Trampoline, qualifying her for finals tomorrow.

Competition Day One

Brooke placed 3rd for Double Mini, qualifying for finals

All smiles before competition, in the morning after breakfast.

Today there was a lot of time for playing around and exploring the grounds of the hotel. It is a really nice complex with an outdoor area that overlooks the grounds.
