I tagged along on a school field trip to the Brookfield Zoo today. Brooke has never been to Brookfield, and I didnt want to miss her 1st time. Thus far I have avoided going on school field trips because I've worried she will want to hang with me and miss out on the general experience, so this was my first time with her class as well :)
The point of the trip was to visit the Australia exhibit, as the class is currently studying the animals of Australia. Funny thing ... we get to the zoo ... and the Australia exhibit is CLOSED. The kids didnt really care, and the kangaroos were still outside (the animal they were supposed to specifically report on) so all worked out in the end. We did a quick run through the zoo in the 1.5 hours we were allotted, and saw about 7-8 exhibits in that time. I was sad the trip was so short, but by the end of our time there all the kids were flushed, feisty, and moving at a snails pace.
At the end of our trip, I kind of wanted to spend some more time at the zoo. I asked Brooke if she wanted to go home with me or ride the bus with her friends. I was hoping she would choose me so that she and I could walk around a bit more. She chose the bus :) My little girl is growing up!
