Brooke: Hey Ry, I'm a jumping butt!
Ryan (jumping): I jumping butt!
Mom: Where will you sleep if you break your bed?
Ryan: In Mommy & Daddy's bed with you.
Brooke: I know how to plant flowers
Mom: How do you know how to plant flowers?
Brooke: From Max & Ruby
Mom: Brooke has an "O" in her name
Ryan: She have actually two "o"'s
We watched an excavator tear down a house, and I explained they were taking down an old house to put up a new house. First Ryan seemed to think that was cool ... Then I saw panic spread across his face.
"Oh no! They take down our house and put a new one!"
Brooke: I made this for you for Coral Day!
Dad: Memorial Day?
Brooke: oh, I thought it was Coral Day

First Trophy!
All the kids in Brooke's class made their very own books! Then her class had a Pulitzer Prize ceremony (parents were invited) where each child's book was read and he/she received a trophy.
It is Brooke's first trophy - she is definitely a proud young author :)

Mother's Day
Today was probably the first Mother's Day where it was really more about Mom than the kids ... but only by a small margin. The day was focused on Mom, but the kids ran the show and most of the things we did were based on making them happy, which ultimately makes everyone happy :)
Brooke was so excited about Mother's Day. She made me several cards and a very cool project at school. She anticipated the day so much that she woke up about 2 hours early (5:45AM) and came charging into our room to wish me "Happy Mother's Day!". When Daddy asked her if her light was green (meaning she could get out of bed) she said she didnt know, and she looked pretty crushed. We knew we couldn't send her back to her room, and thus Mother's Day officially had begun.
I got ready and got Ryan ready while Brooke went downstairs and did some surprise decorating. We were then off to begin our adventure(s). We began the day with a yummy breakfast.
After breakfast, we went shopping for flowers. At the end of our trip to the nursery, Ryan began to get pretty cranky. While buckling Brooke in, she let out a big yawn. After the kids started fighting over who was going to get to water the new flowers with our (one) flowering can, we decided to change the plans a bit. We cruised around until the kids got bored enough to fall asleep. While the slept, I ran into a store and picked up a second watering can (which later in the day the kids fought over who got THAT one) followed by a trip to the bakery.
The nap did the kids some good, and the rest of the day had much less drama. Thank goodness, because it wasnt even lunch time yet ;)
We had a great rest of the day and both of the kids were really happy with our Mother's Day celebration. Cupcakes after dinner seemed to solidify the awesomeness of the day, and everyone went to bed with a smile.

Brookfield Zoo Trip
I tagged along on a school field trip to the Brookfield Zoo today. Brooke has never been to Brookfield, and I didnt want to miss her 1st time. Thus far I have avoided going on school field trips because I've worried she will want to hang with me and miss out on the general experience, so this was my first time with her class as well :)
The point of the trip was to visit the Australia exhibit, as the class is currently studying the animals of Australia. Funny thing ... we get to the zoo ... and the Australia exhibit is CLOSED. The kids didnt really care, and the kangaroos were still outside (the animal they were supposed to specifically report on) so all worked out in the end. We did a quick run through the zoo in the 1.5 hours we were allotted, and saw about 7-8 exhibits in that time. I was sad the trip was so short, but by the end of our time there all the kids were flushed, feisty, and moving at a snails pace.
At the end of our trip, I kind of wanted to spend some more time at the zoo. I asked Brooke if she wanted to go home with me or ride the bus with her friends. I was hoping she would choose me so that she and I could walk around a bit more. She chose the bus :) My little girl is growing up!

Donuts N' Ice Cream
Today was such a nice spring day, one that we've been waiting for for months. So, we decided to take a nice walk for donuts this am. The kids woke up stir-crazy and crabby, and we were hoping to turn their moods around. Donuts quickly put a smile on their faces :)
It was our first ice cream of the season! The kids were pretty excited. They are now in good spirits, but they're still acting like caged animals. I think the Spring Fever has officially hit. Its gonna be a long few months :)
We followed up the donuts with a trip to the park and let them run it off. For sure they would be happy...
But, it was short lived. Before we even got home the whining began. We got into the house and they were just as crazy! So, I popped them back into the stroller and we took a long walk to the grocery store. Everyone was happy, and on the way home Ryan fell asleep. After almost an hour nap in the stroller I figured we had to be good to go, but again, whining resumed. We ate a late lunch and head BACK outside. This time for a walk ... and ice cream. That had to work, right?
