Brooke and Ryan have been out of lessons since school started (Aug or Sept of last year!) and it was time to get them back into the pool before summer really kicked off. We debated back and forth whether or not to put Luke in lessons too. Ryan was in lessons at the same age, but they're just different kids! Finally, I decided to put all three in when I found lessons that synced up at the right time on the right day with the right levels.
Brooke and Ryan were psyched, and Luke was too! We tried to talk to him about what to expect, but obviously, its impossible to properly frame the mind of a 2-year old.
Luke was great in the water, for a whole minute, until I walked away :)
He then spent the next 29 minutes of the lesson crying with his head on the shoulder of his coach (whose name is Megan). He also occasionally pulled her hair and splashed water at her as he alternated between sadness and anger.
After the lesson he was actually pretty positive. He talked about swimming (and told everyone "I cried") as if he had a good time. I'm going to be cautiously optimistic about Week 2 for him.
As for Brooke and Ryan? She declared her lesson to be easy (she may have used the phrase "piece of cake") while Ryan admitted he struggled a bit being back in lessons. Both were happy and are excited about being back in the pool.
