Only a few weeks left until we are officially outnumbered by our own children. In the meantime, I'm beyond exhausted. It is becoming increasingly hard to manage the day-to-day stuff and I need to rest to catch both my breath and energy after even the smallest of things.
Of course, my limitations mean its time to be handed an additional challenge. Brooke has had one of her asthma/cough spurts on and off for the past few weeks or so. What that basically means is that I need to get up approximately every three hours in the night to give her inhaler in order to stop her coughing spurt. She mostly sleeps through these treatments, but because of the disrupted sleep tends to wake up very disoriented and tired ... and by the end of the day she's often physically and emotionally drained (so that makes 2 of us!).
Perhaps its just her way of getting me used to the three hour wake-up pattern of a newborn. However, at least after Awesome Buttons arrives I wont find it so challenging to merely get out of the bed and get to the kid in need, unlike now where I have to roll myself out of bed and waddle down the hallway ... 3-4 times a night. I also have the added discomfort pregnancy brings, making it difficult to fall asleep in general. And lets not forget to add all the potty breaks ;)
So we are anxiously awaiting the arrival of #3, the end of cold/flu season (which generally signals a reduction in Brooke's asthma flare-ups), and the return to "normal" energy and capability for me (so that I can keep up with all the kids can dish)!
