Optimism

When Brooke wrapped up her first week of preschool, she was at the point where she loved school ... But hated the drop off.

We then had 7 days off due to the strike, with a mid-week (wed) return. It was horrible dropping her off. She was wailing and had to be pried off of me. So, obviously, I was not looking forward to this morning's drop off.

In the am we talked a lot about how fun school was. We also talked about feeling anxious and sad when I leave. But, this am, one thing was different. Ryan came along. On the way out the door he starred to cry. He wanted a backpack like his sister had. I told him he was too little - back packs were for big kids. Brooke followed up by telling him he had to be "6 or 7".

We got to her classroom. I told Brooke to show her brother what a big girl she is. She walked into the room, and then paused to glance back. I could see the doubt in her eyes. I again told her to show her brother how big she is ... And she walked in :)

I hope this is the beginning of drama-free mornings!
