Dinner with the Boys
Jeff is in Detroit & Brooke went to a friends house. So I took the boys out to dinner (mostly because I haven't cooked in weeks and really don't plan to) and basically ate dinner all by myself.

Goodbye 5th Grade!
Ryan ended the year with all A's ... something he really worked hard on. He found a new love for playground football and made some new friends this year. He "retired" from baseball (though now seems to have FOMO so we will see) and started playing volleyball. It was a year filled with a lot of change and growth, and not all of that process went smoothly. He seems both happy to be done for the summer and excited about 6th grade, which is definitely the right way to end a year!

The oldest and youngest took a long walk to Wrigley and got donuts. Spent a few minutes sitting and eating, then walked back.
It was nice to do something (especially the movement part) without having to be stressed and panicking. We need more of this time - together, but slow - to help us begin healing.

Its a Wrap - 2nd & 7th
Last day of 2nd and 7th grade. Wow. I can't even begin to describe this year, and so I won't.
Both kids woke with such joy and excitement. They're ready for an amazing last day, ready for summer, ready for 3rd & 8th grade. This makes me happy, and excited for what they've got in their futures.
Ryan still has almost 2 weeks left of school, but doesn't seem to mind. He's had a blast hanging with his friends and there has been a lot of playground football action. This seems to be what he going to school for each day ... and because of it isn't too keen on it ending. So everyone is happy with the current situation. Pretty shocking!
