Navy Pier Volleyball Tourney
Volleyball wrapped up today with a tournament at Navy Pier. The girls did their best, but actually lost all of their matches both yesterday and today. Regardless, Brooke was thrilled because she got invited to play with a higher level team specifically for this tournament. She really enjoyed the level of play this team brought to the court.
After the tournament we went out to lunch at a beautiful rooftop bar and restaurant. I don’t think the kids really appreciated the view as much as the grownups did … but they had fun running around and hanging out socially. It was a great ending to the season.
She's got 5 days off until the beach season begins. Not much downtime considering we are dealing with a shoulder injury, but she had so much fun this week the shoulder almost wasn't an issue ;) Tomorrow we start at the pediatrician to try to see what we can do about it.

Cantigney With Grandma & Grandpa
Cantigny Park with Grandma & Grandpa was a fun outing. The boys enjoyed climbing all over the war memorials.
It didn’t end great though! After they brought him home Ryan spiked a fever. At one point it was over 103°! I took him to Target assuming he had strep, but he tested negative. Just some crazy virus! So he had to miss baseball practice and went to bed early after lots of ibuprofen.

First Swim of The Season!
The boys tried to wait for Brooke to wake up ... but she was in it for the long haul. They finally gave up and went without her. They swam for two hours and got back before she even woke up!

On The Road
It was so hot at the game, two of the boys passed out in the car on the way to Michigan. Its a ruff life.

Last Day Catherine Cook
What a long, strange year it's been. Yet, I can't believe it's over.
Brooke really adapted well to the chaos of remote and hybrid and full face-to-face. She actually had a great year, which is weird to say in a pandemic. She missed being able to socialize with friends in other classes, but overall found herself too busy to really worry that much about it.
Luke loved his teachers and friends ... but really needed to be 100% face-to-face. Remote days were a real struggle for him (and the rest of us) and we hope to never see another remote day again.
Obviously, wishes are not reality. We know we can't predict what will happen in the fall. But we are ready for summer and also really excited about 2nd and 7th grade!
