Hang 10 Invitational - Kenosha Wisconsin

Today we traveled to Kenosha Wisconsin for a T&T meet. Despite her solid performance last time (the first meet of the season), Brooke was more nervous this time. Apparently she received some corrections for her trampoline routine that now made her feel much lest confident in her abilities. She did her best, but I could tell she was over thinking a little bit! This meet was much bigger than the first, with more than 10 girls competing at her level in each event.

It was a VERY long day, with her first event at 1:00 and her second at 5:50. We spent much of the day just sitting around. She had a lot of fun haning with her friends, but even admitted she was bored. When she was lined up waiting to compete at 5:50 (for double-mini) I saw her YAWN! She later denied it (I assume she didn't even realize it) but the day kind of wiped her out. Luckily she managed to do her best, and got 4th in tramploine and 2nd in double-mini. She was a little disappointed in trampoline but very happy with her finish in double-mini.
4th Place, Level 6, Trampoline
2nd Place, Level 6, Double Mini

Our biggest concern all day was the weather. Last night we were hit with a pretty big snow storm. This morning that turned to rain. Then, the temperatures were set to drop continually all day ... until the wind chill was to take it all to sub-zero. This was the only thing I could really think about, in fears the road would be ice. It WAS COLD when we left, but the roads were great. We made it home easily (got her a milkshake on the way even!) and had a great day overall.

Little Picasso

This little guy has been Luke's character of late. I believe it is a representation of himself, in his own likeness. Here, his character is asking for a "Diet Coke" ;) This is some artwork that he created this past weekend.

After School Bowling

It was a rough morning for the kids. Returning after the winter break seems to have hit them hard. Decided to take them for a little outing to Waveland Bowl. Luke got a strike and ended up beating the other two! Unfortunately, he also dropped a bowling ball on his foot ... so the outing ended up in a bit of a disaster.

Luke Soccer Game

This season Luke has opted to play soccer. He hasn't played soccer since he did Little Kickers many years ago ... a class that he never really seemed to enjoy. When it came time to sign up for a winter sport, he quickly picked soccer. So far, he likes it. Brooke took these pics during todays game ;)

Great Wolf Day 2

Day 2 we went to play Magic Quest. This was the one thing they were really excited to do before we arrived. Onsite it was less interesting to them. Ryan ended up being the only one to complete it. We went back into the water park and made sure to ride all of the favorite rides one more time before heading back home.
Ryan is the kind of kid that runs straight into chaos. The other two tend to veer away. Each time the giant bucket poured water, Ryan ran full steam towards it ... while most other kids screamed and ran away.
Luke crossed this obstacle course at least 20 times. He was really slow initially, and couldnt make it across. By the time we left he was flying across at top speed. Very determined and he would not give up!

Brooke tried to act like the water play structure was too little for her (or she was too cool for it) but could not stop the joy from spreading across her face when she staked out a spot on the structure and found a way to dump water on the heads of unsuspecting passers-by. This was not actually an easy feat. She had to figure out how to fill the bucket (from a water source above) and time it properly to get the person walking under it. It took quite a while to master. And she got it figured out pretty good ;)

All three kids happily wore these wolf ears - and by request. We did not ask or force them to ;)

Great Wolf Lodge: Wisconsin Dells

We decided to do a night at Great Wolf Lodge in the Wisconsin Dells in order to break up the long week of Winter Break. When we told the kids we were going, they were totally psyched. Luke wore his "wolf ears" from our last trip to Great Wolf the whole car ride there. They spend the whole first night at the pool, making sure they got on every single ride.

We also did a lot of exploring, as we have been to 2 other locations and never this one in WI. They apparently oversold the room we had reserved so we were upgraded to a condo. It had a kitchen and two bedrooms. THIS make the kids extra excited. However, the second bedroom was poorly lit and poorly ventilated and made for a bit of a sleeping struggle at night.
I let the kids take my phone and be in charge of photos. You can see what happened next.
