Took the kids to their first carnival, an annual Memorial Weekend event in New Buffalo. The minute we pulled close Luke started going batty. He's never been so excited. He wanted to see and do everything ... Which was NOT good.
Brooke, Ryan & Mom went into the Fun House. Then Brooke & Ryan went on a big gym/slide thing.
We grabbed some Cotton Candy (which nearly drove Ryan insane with desire) and went to play a few games.

2016 Pool Season
Brooke and Ryan got into the pool for the first time this season. It was a long time coming! The plan was for everyone to go, but after a rough nights sleep Luke just wasn't going to make it.
So Luke & Mom took a nap & the big kids got in some splash time. Hopefully he'll get into the water at some point this weekend!

Star Student
Brooke was nominated by her peers to be the Star Student for her class for the 3rd Quarter.
She also pointed out she was the Star Student for the 3rd Quarter in Kindergarten and PreK ;)

Sunday 15th
Ryan had a game that didn't start until late, so Brooke, Luke & Mom stayed home. Turns out we missed quite a game. When he was playing Pitcher (for the first time) he caught a ton of grounders and made a few great plays. His coach awarded him with the Defensive Player of the Game. The best part of that (apparently) was the award was Starburst candy ... And since the snack parent didn't bring a snack that candy was a valued prize.

Sunday
Ryan:
Wow! You look nice! (Sounding surprised)
mom: thanks Ryan!
Ryan: but you should put on some lipstick

Story Time With Pat Tomasulo
Took Luke to Little Threads for story time with a special guest appearance by WGNs Pat Tomasulo.
He did great for the first 1/2 of the first reader, but slowly lost interest. By the time it was Pat's turn to read ... He was DONE.
Luke tantrumed for about 1/2 of his reading and likely screwed up his taping. Thanks to Luke, his piece prob won't even make it on air ;)
Oh well!
He did finally approach him afterwards and let him know some of his favorite superheroes.

Mother's Day
After watching the kids sequential gymnastics classes,
we headed out for a surprise trip to Arlington Park.
We got there and I was surprised by how big the place was. Apparently, the kids were too ... because I think we were there for 5 minutes before they started complaining how tired they were.
The races were pretty cool, but after the first one Brooke & Ryan had no interest in watching another (Luke remained interested the whole time we were there). Luckily there were plenty of other activities. The kids all went on a bounce house ... Luke's first time!
And they got to go on a pony ride ... a first for all three!

Sunday He Said / She Said
Luke heard a helicopter, he searched the sky for it. When he found it, he hollered "Batman! Batman Robin!"
On The Back
Love the days when it's nice enough Luke doesn't have to be bundled in a jacket with me ... And he gets to ride on the back. It's also much better for MY back ;)

Bunny Sighting
Apparently I need to expose Luke to more animals. Today we saw a bunny in the back yard and he clearly thought it was a friend.
First he said "bunny, watch this!" And I saw him about to attempt a summersault ... On our paved brick walkway. I stopped that, and he decided to shoot the bunny by pointing his fingers and yelling "pew! pew! pew!".
I suggested he not shoot the bunny. That he be nice to the bunny.
He then proclaimed "who burped?" ... "Bunny burped!" Followed by making lots of noise to scare the bunny away.
I promised him a zoo trip in the not-so-distant future.

Bad Frappuccino Mistake
Got the kids 1/2 price fraps during Starbucks Frappuccino Happy Hour. They both proclaimed it to be the best thing ever and they want to get one "every day".
I opened a can of worms.

Naptime Reading
Ryan gave Luke all his guys and there's no room for Mom in the chair. So Luke decided he will read books to himself while Mom sits on the floor.
