She Said / He Said
I suggested we find a show to watch that is "educational"
Ryan: Paw Patrol is educational
Me: Really? What are you learning from Paw Patrol?
Ryan: How to save people
**********
Brooke: I think I have another loose tooth
Me: You do?
Brooke: Well, not yet. But maybe on next Friday.

Happy St Patricks Day
The past few years the kids have grown increasingly excited about St Patricks Day. I think it began when Brooke first started preschool and a leprechaun visited her classroom. That first time, she was a bit upset and freaked out that something had invaded a place she felt was safe. But, she was 2, and it was a pretty huge violation. That naughty leprechaun left footprints, tossed stuff around the room ... and peed in the potty without flushing! The following year as St Pats approached she became apprehensive. However, when the leprechaun visited her classroom that year the result was quite positive. Since then its a holiday she truly loves and she's spread that joy throughout the whole family.
The kids love of St Pats also has a downside - big expectations. Each year we increase the level in which we celebrate the holiday. At first it was just necessary to have something green to wear. Now the leprechaun visits our home (and their school!) and must be very inventive to deliver the type of day the kiddos expect. This year went well. Everyone was wearing green and a smile.
The big kids both had trouble in their classrooms. Some disruption, some tricks, some treats. While they were at school, the little guy was at home causing his own disruption. He spent the day playing with remotes, outlets, and fireplaces. He just might be a leprechaun in training.
Despite the fact he's big trouble, his sister is his #1 fan. Because he never experienced the joy of St Patricks day before, she found it necessary to make him some special art :) The shamrocks she glued to the paper are those left by the leprechaun himself!

11 Months Old!
This little guy is 11 months old today! He's saying three words (da-da, book, woof), slowly cruising on the furniture, and finally getting a little bit of movement through an army crawl. He's 24lbs,and who knows how tall. Doctors will tell us in just a few weeks - at his one year appointment. Can't believe how fast time flies.
He also sat in the grass for the first time ever (if you can call the brown stuff "grass"). He loved it!
Everyone is excited about some of the first signs of spring. The kids have been playing outside nonstop and our front sidewalk and stairs are filled with chalk art.

Back in the Pool
After months without lessons Ryan is back in the pool today ... Prepping for lots of summer swimming. He didn't even remember the place we we do lessons at! And watching him in the pool, it's pretty clear these lessons are necessary ;) The little guy who had amazing breath control now cannot remember how to breathe in the water!

Lots of Tooth Business
Luke is working on his 6th tooth. Compared to the other 5, he seems to be pretty calm about this one. Maybe he's toughening up, maybe this one doesnt hurt as much ... or perhaps he's just got so much going on right now that the tooth is the least of his worries. Here's his current tooth chart, soon to change when #6 appears.
Brooke's Loose Teeth
Brooke has one of her top front teeth thats a little loose, which is expected. However, she appears to have another tooth loose on the bottom. Totally not typical. Top teeth generally go before the next set of bottom teeth. In fact, teeth normally disappear in the same order they appear. The only thing I can think is that the new loose tooth is next to a tooth thats currently coming in. Perhaps the new growth disturbed the baby tooth? Who knows. However, I do expect her mouth to be pretty full of holes quite soon!

First Word!
Luke says "dada" but not "mama". Not a big surprise since he's definitely Daddy's boy.
The last few says I've been thinking he was saying another word, but I wasn't positive. Today I am positive. Luke says "book"!

Brooke @ Age 100
For Brooke's 100th day of school, they did an age progression to show the kids what they will look like when they are 100 years old.
