Ryan has been very interested in spelling and and "reading" lately, undoubtably inspired by his big sister. Every day he has been reciting the spelling if words he knows, and asking to spell words he doesnt. He's been trying to spell "stop," often with a couple of random letters between the s and p. He's been trying to spell his name, usually as R-r-n, but he's been spelling R-y-a-n more often in recent days. Today he easily spelled B-r-o-o-k-e and D-a-d during lunch (he also "read" the menu, which he proclaimed said "I love corn dogs")!
It's pretty exciting to watch him learn, and really interesting to see how driven he is to learn what his sister knows and do what his sister does.

"Star of the Week"
Ryan is the star of the week at school! He got to bring in a poster and talk about himself to his class. He also gets to bring a special treat for his friends later this week. He's pretty excited ;)

Fishy Progress
Brooke and Ryan both got progress report from swim school! They've both learned so much over the past few months. Its great to watch Brooke push some of her boundaries, and just as fun watching Ryan experiment with the fact he really doesnt have any boundaries ;)
Brooke is doing great under water. The things she has to work on are more about independent moves in the water, like being able to turn from her front to her back (and vice versa) and swimming by herself from her instructor to the wall.
Ryan has mastered most of the stuff at his level. He's gotta work on holding his breath a little longer under water and then I think they'll let him move up to the next class :)

Spring Riding
Got outside with the new bikes from Santa, and a brand new bike helmet for Ryan. The kids are getting a bit impatient for warmer weather ... We won't be able to keep em at bay much longer!

Sunday He Said / She Said
Ryan: Mommy! Captian Hook sneaky (pause) nook!
**********
Ryan (to Brooke): "Sorry Brooke, not on purpose" (after intentionally hitting her)
**********
Ryan walks to window, looks out
Ryan: No see him (walks away)
Mom: No see who?
Ryan: The Easter Bunny
**********
Mom: Are you going to have bacon for breakfast tomorrow?
Brooke: Only if it tastes like strawberries
**********
Brooke: I think the Easter Bunny loves us the most. Because we laugh.
**********
Ryan: Time for hitting time!

Home Sick
After a week of spring break and three days home from school, Brooke and Ryan have been spending quite a lot of time together.
So far this morning we are off to a good start, but it won't be long until the battling begins. I hope she's better soon! We all need a break from one another ;)
